Let History Guide Us

In the interest of not repeating our mistakes ...
Love her or hate her, Rachael Maddow is known for her amazing research team.  She did a show on The New Deal a couple days ago.  It layed out the particulars of the Depression and the plan that finally brought Us out.

I did some further research on the subject.  Sounds like the main cause of the Great Depression was banks making risky loans.  Sound familiar?  There's more.  The depression got worse until FDR started The New Deal which borrowed to fund massive infrastructure building.  It worked and jobs and GDP increased ... until 1937 when conservatives were able to scale back the New Deal.  On the bright side, jobs returned a few years later.

Is it just me or is this fate.  We are at the perfect juncture.  We need a renewable infrastructure for health, security, economic benefit including energy independence.  We need to turn the economy around and need some project that can add a few million jobs.  Oh my, I know the answer, wait, ummm, I dunno, borrow to fund a renewable infrastructure revolution?

Would you borrow to save your child, to keep your house, to start a business that you know will work?
