New Jersey Governor Chris Christie may not be a fan of Cap and Trade but he does recognize CO2 as something he doesn't want in his state.
"From this day forward any plans that anyone has regarding any type of coal-based generation of energy in New Jersey is over," Christie announced. "We know that coal is a major source of CO2 emissions. We will no longer accept coal as a new source of power in the state and we will work to shut down older dirtier, peaker and intermediate plants that emit high greenhouse gases."

EPA Requires Big Coal to Cut Poison in Your Air
"Those proposals could require plants to:
- Reduce emissions of mercury and other toxic chemicals, gases that cause ozone pollution, and greenhouse gases.
- Dispose of coal ash under EPA guidelines for hazardous waste...."

"The nonpartisan Congressional Research Service said industry studies warning of a train wreck overstated some of the costs and didn't address the benefits. The biggest impacts will be on plants more than 40 years old that never installed state-of-the art pollution controls. The Congressional Research Service said that many of those plants are inefficient and are already being replaced by more efficient plants fired partly by natural gas."
