Obama's environmental achievements in the eyes of environmentalists and others:

My last note sent to the administration:
Ok, so it's fair to say that going after health care before climate legislation may not have been the best road to take. Arguably, a push to switch Us from burning foreign stuff for energy to using domestic renewables for energy would have created a massive amount of jobs and boosted the economy. But it can be salvaged.
Conservatives are cutting their own throats to repeal healthcare, pollute our air and water and funding billionaires by damaging our economy. I think the people of the US are ready to try something new, something their hearts tell them is good and true. Leading the planet in switching from burnables to renewables creates entire industries and associated jobs, boosts the economy and national security, raises exports, lowers imports and creates a national pride otherwise hard to muster in a time of (relative) peace.
I know you're keeping the wars going so as not to lose all the associated jobs - a reasonable idea. Bring soldiers home to start helping with the green infrastructure. Mass transit, parks, roads and bridges help the economy too.
Push a carbon tax on imports. If a Chinese widget gets sold for 10 cents but causes 1 dollar worth of damage to the environment (by utilizing dirty energy to build and ship) the widget's new import price is $1.10 - and you've now created whole domestic manufacturing industries with one stoke of the pen.
Get 'er done!
