Republicans walk out of talks. "Tax hikes" were cited.
It's a win win for them. If the debt ceiling can't get raised (and I'm not for that), then there could be bad economic results hitting just about 2012 re-election time. Also, their billionaire backers like them for sticking up for their tax breaks. Also, when it hits the fan, they can claim they weren't allowed in the discussion (some exaggeration will be required but nothing new there).

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters, "Yes, we do want to remove tax subsidies for big oil. We want to remove tax breaks for companies that send jobs overseas. I don't know if that's a reason to walk away from the table."
