Some cutbacks we could make now:
-Cease sending 9 billion in economic aid each year to the middle east when several billion of those dollars quickly ricochet into private accounts in Zurich, Dubai, and the South of France.
-Cease spending money to feed America's wild horses, the mustangs.
-Cease sending fifty planeloads of helicopters, cars, and equipment to support each of the President's international travels.
-Cease spending tax payer money to fund the development of supersonic corporate jets, golf-course sprinkler systems, Shakespearean festivals, a study on why young men do not like condoms, and a study of grandparents' roles in Alaska.
That's a start but to avert the soon to come economic collapse; four major shifts in policy:
-Adjust Social Security and Medicare. People are living much longer but the retirement age has not changed. Baby Boomers are beginning to retire in mass. Up the age and lower the benefit. Stop Medicare waste and abuse. Promote end of life planning. Have a max Medicare benefit and allow elderly to decide how they want it spent. Medicare for all but at a low benefit level. Add to your basic benefit by buying insurance.
-End the wars and occupations. Bring troops home. Cut defense 50% and still maintain the strongest military on the planet.
-Implement One Tax. A national sales tax on new goods that replaces all other federal taxes. One Tax is directly linked to spending. If congress lowers spending the tax goes down and vice versa. Allow states to produce their own tax solution - the 50 laboratories concept.
-End dirty fuels. Make the transition to clean domestic renewables and create jobs. End dirty fuels and stop exporting money, stop funding terrorism, stop damaging public health.
