It's true. I read Sierra Club magazine. I don't agree with some Sierra stances (travel and nukes) but they do put out an informative magazine. Some gems from this month, interpret them how you like:
-Children who live close to freeways are twice as likely to be AUTISTIC.
-There's not enough ozone in the upper atmosphere, so whales in the Gulf of CA are getting sunburned.
-World carbon emissions in 2010 are expected to be the highest in history.
And the good news:
-South Korea is building a 500-Turbine, 2500 megawatt offshore wind farm ... the US's Cape Wind project (offending the locals somehow) is 300mw.
-CA state air board approves a Cap-and-Trade system to reduce greenhouse gasses.
I'm predicting that the world emissions will level off in the next few years even with population growth. That's still adding more than the earth can process.
I see a world where we've stopped burning stuff to make power. It's a beautiful place with cleaner air, less wars and more independence.
